Ever since it was announced that Sebastian Stan was joining The Batman 2, there's been a persistent rumor that we may be about to see the last of him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stan plays Bucky Barnes in the MCU, and after his role in Thunderbolts is set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. However, fans have been wondering how he would be able to juggle two superhero franchises after the Batman casting news, and have taken that as a sign that Bucky may be about to meet his untimely end at the hands of Robert Downey Jr. 's Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie.

Well, it seems we may have been a bit premature, as Stan has been opening up about his MCU future in a new interview. "It's sort of like having a sibling you've never known you had, who you've spent 15 years with," he said of playing Bucky in a new interview at Cannes Film Festival (via an X user). "There's been a comfort there returning every few years, which hopefully I'll keep doing."

Now this certainly doesn't sound like someone about to say goodbye to their MCU character, and fans have been dissecting the interview too. "He better not be playing us rn," replied one to the video, while another added a gif saying, "Don't give me hope."

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time that a Marvel star has played fast and loose with the truth. In fact, we'd bet that Stan and all of the other MCU stars will be doing their best to misdirect fans ahead of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

So far, only a few teaser trailers have been released and a full trailer shown behind closed doors at CinemaCon. Aside from these teases, very little is known about what will happen in the upcoming Marvel movie.
