Man With Mental Health Issues Detained After Shooting Incident in Lviv

Police have apprehended a man following gunfire in Lviv on April 23rd. No casualties were reported, according to law enforcement authorities.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., emergency dispatch received multiple calls from residents of an apartment building on Hrinchenko Street in Lviv reporting gunshots. Investigators determined that a 34-year-old resident of the building, who suffers from mental health disorders, had fired the shots from inside his apartment using a Flobert-system revolver. Upon seeing police officers arrive, the suspect disposed of the weapon by throwing it out a window.

Law enforcement officers recovered the revolver and sent it for forensic examination. "The offender was transported to a specialized medical facility. Questions regarding the legal classification of the incident are currently being resolved," police stated in their official report.

The incident has intensified public concern in Ukraine following a mass shooting on April 18th in Kyiv's Holosiyivskyi district, where a gunman killed seven people.
