Over 5.7M square meters of road repairs completed in Ukraine since year starts
Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said this on Facebook, as cited by Ukrinform.
“Road maintenance works are ongoing across the country. More than 5.7 million square meters of damaged road surface on international highways and state roads have already been repaired – a record figure for comparable periods over the past six years,” Svyrydenko said on Facebook.
According to her, following government instructions, the Ministry for Development and the State Agency for Reconstruction have significantly increased the pace of work. More than 200 repair teams and nearly 2,000 workers are engaged daily.
Current repairs on international highways are expected to be completed by May 1, while works on national roads should be finished by June 1.
Separately, following a government decision, roadworks have begun in frontline regions within a 40-kilometer zone from the line of contact. These are being carried out by units of the State Special Transport Service, taking into account the security situation and priority routes.
“Roads are a matter of the country’s defense capability, efficient logistics, business operations, and community life support,” Svyrydenko emphasized.
