Hungary returns funds and valuables belonging to Oschadbank to Ukraine – Zelensky
Hungary returned to Ukraine money and valuables of Oschadbank that had been seized by Hungarian special services in March of this year.

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky announced this on Facebook.

"An important step in relations with Hungary – today, the funds and valuables of Oschadbank that were seized by Hungarian special services in March of this year were returned. At the time, the Hungarian side unlawfully detained Ukrainian cash-in-transit officers. We brought our people back sooner, and now both the funds and the valuables are back on Ukrainian territory in full," Zelensky said.

He thanked Hungary for a constructive and civilized step.

"I am grateful to Hungary for its constructive approach and civilized step. I thank everyone on Ukraine's team who fought for a fair decision and defended the interests of our state and our people," the President added.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on the night of March 6, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that in Budapest, Hungarian authorities had taken hostage seven Ukrainian citizens — employees of Oschadbank — and seized the money they were transporting. According to him, the seven employees were traveling in two bank vehicles in transit between Austria and Ukraine, carrying cash as part of routine operations between state banks.

On March 10, the Hungarian government adopted a special resolution regarding the cash and gold seized from the Oschadbank collection vehicles. During the investigation, the assets were to remain under the control of Hungarian authorities.

On April 12, parliamentary elections were held in Hungary, in which the Tisza party led by Péter Magyar won.
