Workforce Reduction at Wondery
In August 2025, Amazon cut over 100 positions from Wondery, its podcast production studio. Despite speculation about the studio's future at that time, the company maintained that it was not discontinuing operations. This assertion has proven accurate, as Wondery continues to operate under its established brand name, though the scale of its operations has been significantly reduced.
The restructuring reflects Amazon's broader efforts to streamline its podcasting operations while simultaneously implementing new revenue-generating mechanisms across its audio content platform.
