Northern Territory authorities are intensifying their search for a five-year-old girl who vanished from an Alice Springs residential camp, with police identifying a 47-year-old suspect as a person of interest in what they believe may be an abduction case.

Law enforcement officials have launched a public appeal to locate Sharon, who disappeared from Marshall Court at Old Timers Camp in Alice Springs. The alarm was raised shortly after 1:35 a.m. when the child could not be found at her residence.

Search Focuses on Key Suspect

Police are actively seeking Jefferson Lewis, 47, whom authorities believe was present in the area at the time of the disappearance. During a press briefing, NT police officials expressed conviction regarding the nature of the incident.

"We do believe Sharon has been abducted, and we believe Mr Jefferson may be able to provide us with some information. We can confirm that he is believed to have been in the area around that time and staying at the residence. He currently remains one of the few people who were in old timers camp at the time, and who has not made themselves known to police."

Background on Suspect

Lewis is a known figure in police records, with documented involvement in domestic and family violence related offences. His failure to come forward to authorities has heightened concerns among investigators.

Description of Missing Child

Sharon was last observed wearing a dark blue short-sleeved t-shirt featuring white ring stripes around the neckline and sleeve cuffs, paired with black boxer-style underwear.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of either the child or Jefferson Lewis to contact authorities immediately.
