Zelensky, Costa discuss swift opening of all negotiation clusters

Zelensky stated this on Facebook following the meeting with Costa on the sidelines of the 8th European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, Ukrinform reports.

"President of the European Council António Costa and I discussed our European integration. We are counting on the opening of all six negotiation clusters over the course of this and next month. Technically, Ukraine is fully ready," Zelensky said.

He also thanked Costa for support and for personal efforts in unblocking a EUR 90 billion financial support package.

"It is important that the funds begin to arrive as soon as possible and help Ukraine prepare for winter," the President stressed.

As reported, accession negotiations for new EU member states are divided into 35 chapters, 33 of which are grouped into six thematic clusters. For each chapter, the European Commission first conducts an official screening of Ukraine's legislation for compliance with EU law.

Earlier, Hungary, using the principle of unanimity required for EU enlargement decisions, had blocked the start of Ukraine's accession negotiations.
