World of Tanks: HEAT tank tier list—Best ones to use
World of Tanks: HEAT has different armored vehicles on offer, and you can use them to cause devastation on the battlefield. No two tanks are the same, and they perform different roles on the battlefield.
However, some tanks are better, and you can use this guide to decide which ones to unlock first.

Complete World of Tanks: HEAT tank tier list
To separate the available tanks, I have used three different tiers.
- S-tier tanks are the best possible choices in their respective roles.
- A-tier tanks are viable options to consider, but you’ll need to spend some time with them to reach maximum potential.
- B-tier tanks either lack power compared to the other options, or they’re too difficult to control.

S-tier
| Model | Reason |
|---|---|
| M60A2 | This tank comes with a lot of damage potential. You have autocannons that can penetrate the thickest of armors. You can also use an anti-tank guided missile to do damage. The missile also creates an area of fire upon impact, which continues to damage enemies trapped nearby. |
| Object 287 | This tank offers different ways for you to destroy your enemies. You can launch a harpoon to pull yourself close to an enemy tank while disabling it. Next, you can drop hedgehogs. If an enemy rams into them, they will take damage. However, they can also get instantly destroyed if you activate the ability once more. |
| Marder 1A3 | Suppression Strike allows you to do damage and inflict Fragile stacks. The effect is stackable and raises damage taken by the tank. Smart Mines can further amplify this by applying three more stacks or maximizing existing ones. Not only do both abilities do direct damage, but the Fragile stack is a wonderful utility option in team fights. |
A-tier
| Model | Reason |
|---|---|
| XM1 90 | An excellent hybrid tank that’s available for free. Offers dual-fire mode that allows you to be flexible on the field of battle. Unload can one-shot squishy tanks by unloading multiple rounds in a few seconds. |
| M3E1 | Comes with powerful TOW missiles that can penetrate the thickest armor to do damage. The missiles also set the tank on fire, doing damage over time. Laser Designator allows you to trace enemy tanks and make them vulnerable. This is a pretty good ability, but its maximum effectiveness depends on your allies. |
| XM1V | This is an exceptional tank when it comes to disrupting the enemies. You can use Demolition Charges to damage enemies and slow them down. You can also deploy Minefield to immobilize enemies. If it could do more damage, this tank would have belonged in S-tier. |
| M60A1 | The tank has an auto-targeting 50 Cal that damages and slows down enemies. You can also charge into enemies; you do an incredible amount of damage and also force them out of position. |
| M1E1 | This is a good beginner-friendly tank that comes with a self-targeting turret. You also have a shield that protects you from incoming damage when you’re securing objectives. However, the barrier prevents you from firing at enemies; otherwise, this would be an S-tier vehicle. |
B-tier
| Model | Reason |
|---|---|
| AMX10 RC | Top-Attack missiles can hit up to two tanks if there are traced tanks. Hence, you’ll depend on someone to trace those tanks. You can use the UAV drone to do the same, but wasting an ability to just trace enemies feels pointless. |
| FV4030 X | This monster of a tank allows you to jam nearby enemies and use a ballistic shield for self-preservation. However, it’s far too defensive, and the effectiveness of Jamming Field depends on whether there are nearby enemies. |
| M551A1 | This is a close-range monster that can do damage and also launch a shield to stop incoming attacks. However, getting too close to enemies is not the dominant playstyle in the current meta. This is also the hardest tank to master. |
| T-62AV | This is one of the best tanks if you know how to maneuver it. The Pyro-Trail ability leaves a trail of fire that will do plenty of damage. However, you’ll have to make an enemy chase you in the first place. The Rocket Barrage ability also does decent damage, but there are better alternatives out there. |
| LEO 1A6A1 | You can place a decoy to misguide the enemy and also perform a trapping shot. Enemies stuck by it will be unable to move and take damage from explosions. However, the decoy has an extremely limited placement range, while the damage from Trapping Shot is weak. |
I have yet to assess two tanks: the HSTV-L and the ALVT. Both of them look pretty decent when I read their abilities, but I will need to test them out in a battle. Having a great tank is only half the task, as you’ll also need to pay attention to the Agent you’re using. You’ll have to combine your Agent and their tank to ace a battle.
