Woman ran over 11 ducklings because they kept making a mess in her yard, police say
A Florida woman was arrested after investigators say she ran over and killed 11 baby ducks because she was upset about a mess they made in the yard.
Beverly Sasberry, 64, is facing felony animal cruelty charges after she intentionally ran over 11 baby ducklings with her car, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
An unidentified couple told authorities they witnessed a woman in a red Honda Accord purposefully drive over a group of baby ducklings in Jacksonville on April 25.
The witnesses said they watched the woman turn her vehicle around “multiple times to hit them,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
“The couple confronted the woman a few days later, and she told them she intentionally killed the ducks because she was upset they made a mess in her yard,” the statement added.

Police identified Sasberry as the owner of the red Honda Accord. Authorities pulled her over last Thursday, April 30, and after interviewing her, she was arrested on 11 counts of Cruelty to Animals, which is a felony.
Kyle Hutchinson, who is a neighbor of Sasberry’s, told Action News JAX that he saw the whole horrific ordeal.
“It was a little after 10 a.m. on Saturday, I see a truck in mainly my neighbor’s yard, coming into mine, driving through the bushes and driving away,” Hutchinson said. “After further inspection, there were dead ducks everywhere, and ducks running away, and she turned around and sped off trying to him them again.”
Hutchinson said that when he confronted Sasberry about the incident she told him that she was upset the ducks had pooped in her yard.
“She just kept saying that she just wants to kill more, pretty much,” Hutchinson said. “It’s literally what she said a few times. ‘I’ll do it again. I’ll do it again.’”
Hutchinson told the news station he filed a report with police. It was not immediately clear if any other neighbors also filed reports about the incident.
“We do not take animal cruelty cases lightly,” the sheriff’s office said, urging others who witness someone committing a crime against an animal to report it to authorities.
