Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has hit one million sales since its launch into early access late last month, and it just got an official roadmap outlining what's to come this year and seemingly beyond.

In a post on Twitter, developer Unfrozen says the past few weeks have been a "lovely start" to early access, and it's been "extremely happy" to work on fans' feedback. "As always, we continue to monitor your feedback and weave it into the upcoming updates and changes," it adds.

Going forward, it says, "our main priority remains to ensure a smooth experience in Olden Era and to address any urgent issues that may arise – which will lead to many regular patches throughout Early Access," but it's still able to share some bigger content plans.

Kicking things off in Q3 2026, we can expect a rebalance to Hero skills, as well as an emote wheel update, advanced features for the Random Map Generator, and teamplay mode.

Moving into Q4 of the year, the devs are planning reworks for matchmaking and the Elite class, and a rebalance to Alternate Upgrades. Observer Mode and replays will also be added.

As for the rest of early access, Unfrozen is planning a number of things including underground terrain, new PvP win conditions, an Ironman mode for the campaign, and map editor improvements. Even bigger changes, like second and third acts for the campaign, a PvE roguelike mode, and map sharing support are planned for its full release, whenever that might be.

As outlined in a press release (which also confirms the game's one million sales milestone), it's stated that "the contents of this roadmap are subject to revisions as the game evolves, and additional updates to the development plan will be communicated as development progresses." So, there's no guarantee that everything on there will be followed to the letter, but it still seems like a pretty good indication of what's to come.
