Winery belonging to Ilhan Omar’s husband shut down as congresswoman’s finances probed
A California winery co-owned by Representative Ilhan Omar’s husband has closed down as the Democratic lawmaker faces questions about her finances.
The winery, eStCru, shut its doors earlier this month, according to business records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon and the New York Post. Omar’s husband, Timothy Mynett, partially owned the business, the lawmaker’s financial disclosures show.
Mynett and Omar’s finances have been under scrutiny by Republicans in recent months, after the lawmaker filed a financial disclosure indicating their assets were worth between $6 million and $30 million.
Omar later filed an amendment correcting that number, instead indicating their assets were actually between $18,004 and $95,000, according to the Wall Street Journal. Omar reportedly filed the correction after receiving a letter from the Office of Congressional Conduct last month.

The original filing contained an unintentional error, Omar’s attorney told the Office of Congressional Conduct.
“As the busiest of people, it is very common for members and their spouses to rely on learned professionals like accountants to make calculations and determinations that appear on public filings,” her attorney wrote in a letter reviewed by The WSJ. “While the error is of course unfortunate, there is nothing untoward and nothing illegal has occurred.”

James Comer sent a letter to Mynett in February requesting “all documents and communications” related to the finances of eStCru and Rose Lake Capital LLC, a venture capital firm he co-owns.
The Independent has contacted Omar’s office for comment.
Omar, a progressive Democrat from Minnesota, has frequently drawn the ire of President Donald Trump and his allies. She’s also a member of the “Squad,” an informal group of progressive House Democrats known for criticizing Trump and their own party. Other members include Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Last month, Omar clashed with Vice President JD Vance after he said she “definitely committed immigration fraud,” a claim which her office called a “ridiculous lie.”
Members of the “Squad” also heckled Trump repeatedly during his State of the Union address in February, which prompted the president to call Omar and Tlaib “low IQ” in a Truth Social post the following day.
