Subnautica 2 Lead is a key ingredient for the Sonic Resonator, an all-important tool in that allows you to mine big chunks of ore like a boss, instead of picking up itty-bitty pieces like a meek underwater forager. Alas, as with many of Subnautica 2’s key resources, like Silver and Lucifer Rotsac, it takes some trial, error, and oxygen to ascertain the hiding spot of this coveted resource.

Thankfully, at least where lead is concerned, it’s a lot closer to home base than you might think, and requires some surprisingly straightforward orienteering to locate. Our guide explains exactly where to head on your hunt for Lead in Subnautica 2, so you can craft your Sonic Resonator as soon as humanly possible, and get to pilfering the ocean floor.

Where to find Lead in Subnautica 2

To find Lead in Subnautica 2, leave your home base at a bearing of 70 degrees. First, you’ll pass a sizable hunk of orange coral with the tip sticking out of the water. Keep moving in that direction until you spot a second hunk of orange coral, this time fully submerged. Slightly to the left and further down from the coral, you can find a blue current. Ride the current down into a basin where you’ll find a platform with crates from the missing colonists on top. Lead deposits are scattered around the bottom of this basin, and you can grab the smaller chunks with your bare hands.

Keep in mind that while you will be able to pick up the little bits of Lead in the early game, you’ll need the Sonic Resonator tool to mine the larger chunks of Lead ore. If you can’t detect any Lead near the aforementioned platform, you can swim a bit further down the ravine. There are plenty of small chunks clustered across the ocean floor, ready to be picked up and taken back to the lifepod.

Once you’ve made it to this gloomy-looking ravine, you’ll be able to harvest all the lead necessary to build the Sonic Resonator and start collecting important ores at record speeds. You can even come back once you’ve got it and take care of those larger Lead deposits to create a stockpile.
