‘WhatsApp Plus’ subscription launches for $2.99/month, details here
WhatsApp has been testing an optional subscription plan, and now per TechCrunch it is officially launching around the world. ‘WhatsApp Plus’ costs $2.99/month, here’s what it gets you.
WhatsApp Plus: Here are the new features exclusive to the subscription
Meta is making a big push into subscriptions for its major social networks, including a new WhatsApp Plus plan rolling out today (via TechCrunch).
We’ve previously seen evidence of WhatsApp Plus surface during the WhatsApp beta, but it was limited to a small number of users.
Now, WhatsApp Plus is launching globally as an optional subscription. Users should start seeing it appear in the app soon.
WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99/month in the US, and adds exclusive features such as the following:
- Send premium stickers
- Change your app’s theme
- Choose a custom app icon
- Pin extra chats
- Get premium ringtones
- Upgrade your chat lists
In other words, WhatsApp Plus doesn’t change anything about the core WhatsApp experience. And anyone who is not interested in subscribing shouldn’t see noticeable changes in what they currently get from WhatsApp.
However, if you’re a heavy WhatsApp user and want access to additional features and customization tools, that’s what WhatsApp Plus is for.
Alongside WhatsApp Plus, Meta is launching separate subscriptions for Instagram and Facebook too.
