Watch: Resignations, drama and defiance at Downing Street
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will meet health secretary and likely leadership rival Wes Streeting on Wednesday after the number of ministers who resigned in protest at his leadership grew to four.
They joined the 87 Labour MPs who have publicly called for Sir Keir to step down after the party suffered heavy local election losses on 7 May.
But support for the PM has also been forthcoming with more than 100 MPs signing a statement in support of his leadership and Deputy Prime MInister David Lammy telling reporters Sir Keir had his full support.
The prime minister told a cabinet meeting he wanted to get on with the job.
