BBC Undercover Investigation Exposes Drug Sales at West Midlands Mini-Marts

A covert BBC investigation has uncovered the illegal sale of cocaine and cannabis at convenience stores operating on High Streets across the West Midlands region.

Undercover journalists conducted secret filming operations at multiple locations, including a shop identified as Cradley Market. During one encounter, an undercover researcher managed to purchase 3.5 grams of cannabis for £30 from a counter worker named Akwa within seconds of asking.

The Counter Worker's Admission

During the transaction, Akwa explicitly told the researcher: "I've got weed, coke, everything. Whatever you want, I can sort you out." The worker subsequently provided the undercover operative with cocaine as well.

When confronted by BBC UK Editor Ed Thomas with evidence of the illegal activity, Akwa denied the allegations and claimed not to understand what was being discussed. He then requested that Thomas and his team vacate the premises.

Government Response

A Home Office spokesperson stated that the government is collaborating with law enforcement, the National Crime Agency, and Trading Standards to "take the strongest possible action against these criminal businesses."

West Midlands Police confirmed their commitment to partnering with community stakeholders to "act on complaints about illegal drugs sales, anti-social behaviour, and crime and disorder."
