Warhammer just revealed a pre-painted range of terrain for Warhammer 40K, which means you'll soon be able to create a battlefield right out of the box.

Shown off in response to a leak that began making the rounds earlier this week (the squig was let out of the bag after someone posted sprues on reddit), this Warhammer pre-painted terrain is designed to be playable from the get-go. From what we've seen so far, it features Warhammer 40K buildings, scatter terrain like fences or cabling, and objectives such as computer terminals. In other words, it's perfect for use with Warhammer 40K 11th Edition.

Indeed, that's exactly what the teaser video – which you can see below – does. And would you look at that, but I do believe we've got some new Ork models being shown off alongside the terrain itself. More specifically, a trio of new Ork bikers can be seen navigating the pre-painted ruins. We can presumably expect these to arrive shortly after the Armageddon launch box.

As many fans pointed out on the original reddit leak, these seem to have been painted via UV printing: that's why it's so detailed, but a little 'gritty' in appearance. Personally, I think it looks great. Although I adore painting terrain, it's a real time-sink and can be quite intimidating when you're faced with an entire table's worth of the stuff. As such, a ready-made solution can get players (or newcomers, as I suspect may be a significant part of the intended audience) into the action so much faster. There are some cool, tricky effects like object source lighting (e.g. the glowy lights) included for good measure too.

When will this all arrive? No idea. This just serves as an early-doors tease. But thanks to the inclusion of the Armageddon box set Ork army alongside what I strongly suspect to be part of the first wave of Ork reinforcements, it can't be far off. If I was a betting man, I'd say summer or early fall.

I've been writing about games in one form or another since 2012, but these days you'll find me managing GamesRadar+'s tabletop gaming and toy coverage (I spend my time here handling everything from board game reviews to the latest Lego news). I've also been obsessed with Warhammer since the 1990s, and love nothing more than running tabletop RPGs like D&D as a Dungeon Master.
