War update: 120 clashes on front line, heaviest fighting in Pokrovsk sector

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its operational update as of 22:00 on May 6, 2026, on Facebook.

“Since the beginning of the day, there have been 120 combat engagements. The enemy carried out one missile strike using two missiles and 47 air strikes, dropping 173 guided aerial bombs. In addition, theu used 5,649 kamikaze drones and conducted 1,862 shelling attacks on settlements and Ukrainian positions,” the report said.

According to the General Staff, in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the enemy carried out five air strikes using 14 guided aerial bombs and 59 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, seven of them with multiple launch rocket systems. One assault was recorded.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces launched 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk, Starytsia, and toward Lyptsi, Lyman, Izbytske, Mala Vovcha, and Symynivka. One of these attacks is still ongoing.

In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks toward Kurylivka, Pishchane, Novoplatonivka, and near Borivska Andriivka. One attack is ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 15 assaults near Nadiia, Stavky, Yampil, and toward Lyman, Novoserhiivka, and Ozerne. One engagement is still ongoing.

In the Sloviansk sector, the enemy did not conduct assault operations.

In the Kramatorsk sector, no attacks were recorded.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, the invaders carried out 14 assaults near Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, and toward Kostiantynivka and Novopavlivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces launched 25 attacks, attempting to advance toward Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Shevchenko, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Serhiivka, and Molodetske. One attack is still ongoing.

Preliminary estimates indicate that 42 Russian soldiers were killed and 25 wounded in this sector today. Three vehicles and three enemy shelters were destroyed. In addition, five vehicles, 10 shelters, four artillery systems, and one UAV command post were damaged. Around 200 drones of various types were destroyed or jammed.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy attacked once toward Verbove.

In the Huliaipole sector, 15 attacks were recorded near Zlahoda, Dobropillia, Staroukrainka, Zelene, as well as toward Hirske and Huliaipilske.

In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy attacked once near Shcherbaky.

In the Prydniprovske sector, Russian troops conducted two assaults toward Antonivka and Bilohrudyi Island.

In other sectors of the front, no significant changes in the situation were observed.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck an enemy pilot-and-spotter training center in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region.
