Volvo Trucks adds electric PTO to VNR Electric semi lineup
Volvo Trucks announced a new, all-electric power take-off (PTO) that’s significantly expanding what the brand’s VNR Electric semi trucks are capable of – just before teasing not one but two all-new HD truck offerings.
Volvo Group always approaches the ACT Expo as a unified front, bringing trucks, construction equipment, power production, and energy products (along with my friends at Volvo Financial Services, of course) to the event as a broad, functional ecosystem of solutions to get the stuff that’s here over there.
They also use the show as a launchpad for new products, which is exactly what they did last night announcing the new ePTO for VNR Electric.
The new ePTO allows fleets running VNR Electric Class 8 trucks to power equipment using the truck’s onboard traction batteries, without a diesel engine running as a genset in the background. The resulting truck is a fully electric solution that can handle demanding jobs with zero-tailpipe emissions and significantly less noise and vibration than before.
