Volkswagen opens ID. Polo orders at $40,000, but a more affordable model is coming

The new entry-level EV is finally here. Volkswagen opened pre-orders for the ID. Polo on Wednesday, starting at 33,795 euros ($40,000). The promised base version at 25,000 euros ($29,000) will follow shortly.

Volkswagen ID. Polo orders open in Europe

Volkswagen’s answer to low-cost Chinese manufacturers like BYD is finally here. The ID. Polo is the first model from the German automaker’s new family of entry-level electric vehicles.

The electric Polo is bringing a new look, redesigned interior, and upgraded powertrain to Volkswagen’s EV lineup. It’s also the first to bear an established Volkswagen name as the company aims to recapture the brand’s essence in the modern era.

Following the new ID.3 Neo, introduced earlier this month, the ID. Polo is kicking off a new generation of “true Volkswagen” models.
