I first spotted the VinFast MPV 7 being delivered to a small dealership hidden inside a gasoline station in Sto Tomas, Batangas — a quiet, unassuming precursor to what has now become a full-scale national rollout. That early glimpse of the electric 7-seater in the provinces set the stage for the official Philippine launch today, May 4, marking the latest milestone in VinFast’s aggressive push across Asia and India.

The arrival of the MPV 7 signals a strategic shift for the Vietnamese automaker, which is now targeting the heart of the Philippine automotive market. With MPVs accounting for nearly 20% of local vehicle sales, VinFast is positioning this electric contender as a direct upgrade for multi-generational families who have traditionally relied on internal combustion engines.

The Philippines is the third international market to receive the MPV 7, following successful launches in India and Indonesia. In India, the vehicle is a cornerstone of the brand’s “Made in India” strategy, locally assembled at their Tamil Nadu facility to meet the specific space and versatility demands of Indian families. In Indonesia, the model is already integrated into the V-Green charging ecosystem, which VinFast is now replicating locally.

In the Philippines, the MPV 7 is priced at P1,518,000 (approx. $24,642) for the battery-included version. However, the company is leaning heavily on its battery subscription model to drive adoption, which brings the entry price down to P1,239,000 ($20,113). The subscription costs are pegged to usage, with a monthly fee of P2,700 ($43.83) for distances up to 2,000 km and P4,150 ($67.37) for those exceeding that limit.

The vehicle itself is built on a 2,840 mm wheelbase, pushing the wheels to the corners to maximize cabin space. This “golden ratio” design allows for a cargo capacity of up to 1,240 liters, making it a viable tool for both daily urban commutes and long-distance travel. Power comes from a 150 kW electric motor and a 60.13 kWh battery, providing a range of 450 km under NEDC standards.

To catalyze the transition to green mobility, VinFast is offering the first 1,000 customers a year of free battery subscription if they order by May 31. Those opting for the battery-included purchase receive a direct discount of P27,200 ($441.56).

The regional strategy is further supported by an aggressive aftersales package. Owners in the Philippines will benefit from free charging at V-Green stations through March 2029. This is paired with a 7-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty and a 10-year or 200,000 km battery warranty, positioning it as one of the most protected investments in the segment.

“The launch of the VF MPV 7 in the Philippines marks another step forward in VinFast’s global expansion strategy and demonstrates our long-term commitment to this market. With its spacious interior, strong performance, optimized operating costs, and sustainable ownership value, we believe the VF MPV 7 will serve as a comprehensive upgrade for Filipino families and set a new benchmark in the MPV segment,” Antonio Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia said during the launch.

By expanding its dealership and aftersales network nationwide — from the metro centers to the smaller hubs like the one I saw in Batangas — VinFast is attempting to build a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem across the country.
