Ultra-Orthodox Jews Burn Israeli Flags in Protest Against Israel's Founding Day Commemoration

Al Jazeera 0 переглядів 1 хв читання

Ultra-Orthodox Jewish demonstrators set fire to Israeli flags and displayed anti-Zionist placards in Jerusalem's Mea Shearim district as the nation marked the 78th anniversary of Israel's establishment.

The protest took place in West Jerusalem's Mea Shearim neighbourhood during Israel's observance of its founding day anniversary. Participants voiced their opposition through the symbolic burning of national flags and the display of banners carrying anti-Zionist messaging.

The demonstration reflects ongoing tensions within Israel's ultra-Orthodox Jewish community regarding Zionism and the state's ideological foundations. The Mea Shearim area, known as a predominantly ultra-Orthodox enclave, has historically been a focal point for such expressions of dissent during official state celebrations.
