Ukraine steps up security measures along border with Russia, Belarus – SBU
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are carrying out enhanced security operations in northern regions bordering Russia and Belarus.

The agency said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.

The measures are being implemented under a decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The operations are "unprecedented" in scale in areas along the borders with Russia and Belarus and are intended to serve as a deterrent against any hostile actions or operations by the enemy and its allies.

The coordination is being carried out by the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, with participation from the National Police, Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, and State Border Guard Service.

The comprehensive measures include preventive counterintelligence and counter-sabotage activities across the Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Volyn, and Rivne regions.

Priority tasks include preventing enemy infiltration in border areas, stopping sabotage and terrorist activities, and countering intelligence and subversive operations.

Security forces will also conduct enhanced checks of individuals in the designated areas and inspect certain territories and premises to identify prohibited items.

Under martial law, temporary restrictions on movement, document checks, and vehicle inspections may be introduced in some settlements.

The SBU urged residents to carry identification documents, comply with curfew regulations, and cooperate with law enforcement during the operations.

The agency stressed that all actions are being carried out in accordance with the law and respect for constitutional rights and freedoms.
