Two Elderly Residents Injured in Russian Drone Strikes on Kherson
Russian unmanned aerial vehicle attacks on the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson on the night of April 23 left two senior citizens hospitalized with injuries, according to regional military authorities.
The regional military administration reported on the morning of April 23 that two individuals had been transported to medical facilities following overnight drone assaults. A 63-year-old man was struck around 9:00 PM in the Central District, while a 71-year-old woman was hit at 1:40 AM in the Korabelnyi District.
Medical Condition
Medical personnel diagnosed both victims with blast-related trauma, concussions, and acute stress reactions. The woman additionally sustained shrapnel wounds to her torso. The female patient was hospitalized in moderate condition, while the male victim received emergency medical care and was prescribed outpatient treatment.
Broader Context of Attacks
Russian military forces continue systematic bombardment campaigns against Ukrainian urban centers and civilian infrastructure across all regions of the country, employing attack drones, missiles, guided aerial bombs, and multiple-launch rocket systems.
Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation, characterizing them as deliberate in nature. Attacks targeting critical infrastructure systems—including electrical, heating, water supply, and communication networks—as well as healthcare facilities, are recognized as indicators of genocidal acts, depriving civilians of essential services and survival conditions.
Russian leadership denies conducting systematic attacks on civilian infrastructure, dismissing allegations that its military operations deliberately target and kill civilians while destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and energy and water supply facilities.
