One of the notable aspects of Pakistan being the centre of peace talks is just how the country positioned itself as the mediator, or facilitator, between the US and Iran.
Analysts point to a number of key moments that made Islamabad the go-to for President Trump.
First, after the US mediated talks between India and Pakistan and helped settle its brief conflict last year, Pakistani officials moved to nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Second, Pakistan's decision to extradite a key terror suspect linked to the attack on Kabul Airport during the US evacuation in 2021, which killed 13 soldiers and dozens of civilians.
Third, the personality of its military chief, General Asim Munir, President Trump's favourite field marshal, he says.
