Truck driver arrested after accident leaves 1 highway worker dead, 5 others hurt
Truck hit back of worker’s patrol vehicle parked in closed slow lane of Cheung Tsing Highway, which then struck minivan carrying South Korean tourists

Hong Kong police arrested a driver after his truck hit a parked vehicle and killed a worker on a closed section of the Cheung Tsing Highway in Tsing Yi in an accident that also left five others, including four South Korean tourists, injured on Thursday.
A source said that the accident happened at around 5.10pm when the local driver of a minivan carrying the four tourists pulled over to the side of a lane after one of the vehicle’s tyres burst.
A highway worker arrived at the scene in a patrol vehicle, parking behind the private car. He got out and stood between the two vehicles.
AdvertisementThe medium-sized goods vehicle driving in the same lane hit the patrol vehicle, which then struck the minivan, the source said.
The worker, 64, was reportedly dragged underneath one of the vehicles. He was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was later certified dead.
