They can never compete with Elden Ring, but FromSoftware owner says Nightreign "performed strongly" and The Duskbloods is still coming in 2026
Of all the upcoming Switch 2 games, the strikingly Bloodborne-esque The Duskbloods might be the most hotly anticipated as a FromSoftware title exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 – and thankfully, amid various game delays, it's still coming in 2026.
Kadokawa Corporation, parent company of FromSoftware, has just released its quarterly earnings results, and they do confirm that The Duskbloods is set to arrive this year – although they don't provide us with a more specific release date, sadly.
According to the report, it hasn't exactly been a terrific year for the studio gaming-wise, despite Elden Ring Nightreign and its DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, arguably performing quite well.
"Elden Ring Nightreign performed strongly, and its DLC achieved a high attach rate," reads the financial report from Kadokawa. "However, sales and profit declined from the previous year, when the Elden Ring DLC and the original Elden Ring contributed significantly."
In other words, the company is suffering a bit of a hangover period post-Elden Ring's own DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree – but things might just pick up this year with The Duskbloods.
Watch On
As per Kadokawa's words, they "expect sales to increase" with future releases like Elden Ring's exciting Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2 and, of course, The Duskbloods.
The company writes in its presentation, "FromSoftware is expected to contribute with Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, as well as The Duskbloods (both slated for a 2026 release for Nintendo Switch 2), a completely new title. We will work to further expand the fan base globally."
So, there you have it – The Duskbloods is still well underway and dropping sometime this year, but Kadokawa does add, "At this point we have yet to announce a specific release date."
While we don't know the launch date itself, we're nearly halfway through 2026 right now, which means there aren't too many months left to wait, regardless. Personally, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a fall release… after GTA 6, though.
Here's hoping both FromSoftware and Kadokawa see things pick up whenever Elden Ring's Tarnished Edition and The Dusbloods do finally arrive. It seems the parent company certainly believes they will, and honestly, it's not hard to see why.
