They say beggars can’t be choosers, but when it comes to tourism, every dollar counts when local economies need a boost.

Don’t worry; we’re not going full Jim Cramer on you with some obnoxious economics lesson.

What we’re here to do is spotlight 7 destinations dotted across the globe that we know for certain want more tourists — a rarity in the age of overtourism, where headlines are more commonly filled with frustrated locals pushing back against visitor overload.

Without further ado, here are 7 destinations practically begging for more tourists this summer, in no particular order:

Trinidad & Tobago: The Caribbean's Work-In-Progress Paradise

Think you've hit up all the Caribbean's worthwhile palm-fringed islands?

Fat chance.

Lesser-known Trinidad & Tobago is on a marketing spree, hoping travelers look beyond the headlines and rediscover this twin-island hideaway just off the coast of the former no-go zone of Venezuela.

Are there safety concerns? Absolutely.

The U.S. has issued multiple travel alerts in recent months, so this isn’t a destination to book blindly.

But safety is also a fickle topic, especially for places working hard to clean up their image and bring visitors back.

Travelers currently score Trinidad & Tobago as a work in progress on our Safety Index, sitting at just 50/100.

Still, with fewer crowds, postcard beaches, staggering waterfalls, and vibrant culture, this is one to keep on the back burner.

Riga: Europe's Next Major Hub?

Most U.S. travelers know they reach Barcelona, Paris, and London in a jiffy, but arguably Eastern Europe's trendiest city has lofty goals to earn a seat at the table.

Dubbed the “Paris” of the Baltics, this Art Nouveau beaut is still largely waiting to be discovered by Americans — except me (not to brag).

With Europe's largest market, that's a selling point in itself. If it's dreams come true being Eastern Europe's next major hub, you not only have Riga, but easy access to neighboring countries, such as Estonia, and Lithuania — not to mention under-hyped Baltic Sea beach towns nearby.

Travelers are currently scoring Latvia’s safety levels at 82/100.

Dallas Wants You To Venture Outside The Airport

Dallas is my hometown, but I've sworn it off as a travel destination because, quite honestly, it's not the most appetizing city — and that’s coming from someone who still believes Whataburger can fix most of life's problems.

Personal opinion aside, Dallas wants to become the new hotspot of Texas.

While its DFW airport is one of the busiest in the nation, Fort Worth has become one of the Lone Star State's trendiest go-to's.

Dallas, though? Not as much beyond duty-free shops.

With world-class shopping, endless eats, flashy hotels, and charming suburbs, Big D has a Texas-sized goal: lassoing back the spotlight from neighboring Fort Worth.

Travelers are currently scoring Dallas's safety levels at 70/100.

Cyprus Wants To Be Greece's New Rival

Cyprus may be marketed as a European escape, though geographically, it’s always been a little up in the air — sitting at the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East, yet undoubtedly Mediterranean.

Obviously, “Middle East” triggers travel fears right now, which may conjure Cyprus's big dreams to become more popular after already breaking tourism records in 2025.

This sun-soaked map-dot nation wants more tourists to give it a chance this summer, not because it lacks beaches, history, or resorts, but because regional tensions tied to Iran have reportedly made some travelers hesitant to book eastern Mediterranean getaways.

Cyprus is hoping travelers look past the uncertainty and remember what’s actually waiting on the ground: golden beaches, ancient ruins, lively coastal towns, mountain villages, and Mediterranean charm without the same-o, same-o crowds found elsewhere across Europe. 

Travelers are currently scoring Cyprus's safety levels at 77/100.

Guernsey: New Rules Won't Entice Travelers

This unknown island, often tied to the UK, is not actually part of the country; it’s a self-governing Crown Dependency.

One of Europe’s last true hidden gems, Guernsey doesn’t appear to be helping itself attract more tourists for one reason and one reason only: bureaucracy.

Travel is hard enough as it is when it comes to crossing oceans, so nobody likes needing permission to visit, which is a great time to remind all travelers to check travel advisories and entry requirements upfront.

As of April 23, 2026, Americans and other non-visa nationals will need an ETA to visit Guernsey when traveling from outside the Common Travel Area, even though the island is not part of the U.K.

That may be a tough sell for a place craving more visitors to discover its beloved island charm, chock-full of medieval castles, quiet beaches, cliffside trails, and storybook harbor towns.

Paraguay: Latin America's Underrated Heartland

Inland South America isn't always a draw — you have Bolivia, numerous Amazonian no-names, and the entire nation of Paraguay, arguably the least discovered country going to toe-to-toe with Guyana and Suriname.

What has made a name for itself in the digital nomad community, Paraguay wants more than keyboard warriors.

Like Trinidad & Tobago, the country's tourism board is on a world tour promoting their beloved homeland to appeal to more than neighboring nations.

Despite its undiscovered allure and surprisingly gorgeous golden riverbank beaches in virtually unknown cities like Encarnacion, the one undeniable selling is safety.

Travelers are currently scoring Paraguay's safety levels at 84/100, among the safest in South America.

Timor-Leste: Asia's Next Bali?

Whether Bali has lost its luster or not is for you to decide, but it certainly holds household recognition.

But as this powerhouse hotspot drifts further from its Eat Pray Love era, a nearby country nobody ever seems to talk about is hot on its tail as the new “Bali before Bali”.

Timor-Leste offers the same dreamy cocktail travelers once sought in Bali — raw, borderling feral beaches, lush mountains, rich culture, and a newfound sense of discovery — only without the thumping beach clubs, influencer crowds, and cookie-cutter sameness that now define so much of Indonesia’s most famous island.

With new flights popping up, it's becoming more tempting to give one of the least-known countries on Earth a chance to be your new favorite escape.
