This makes “The Boys” the latest popular streaming series to set a theatrical screening for a finale, with HBO Max screening the final episode of “The Pitt” Season 2 at Alamo Drafthouse locations and Netflix giving the series finale of “Stranger Things” a limited release around its New Year’s Eve launch.

Created by Eric Kripke (“Supernatural”), Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and adapted from the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, “The Boys” is a satirical superhero TV drama that debuted in 2019. The drama, which follows the titular Boys in their struggles against the nefarious supe organization Vought, has spawned multiple spinoffs at Amazon, including animated anthology “The Boys Presents: Diabolical,” the now-canceled, live-action college-set series “Gen V,” and the upcoming prequel show “Vought Rising.”

“The Boys” has been both a critical and commercial hit for Amazon, drawing high viewership for the streamer and an Emmy nomination for top drama in 2021.

The series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Cameron Crovetti, as well as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles, Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward.

“The Boys” is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film and Point Grey Pictures.
