The most recent episode of The Boys season 5 delivered one of the most devastating deaths, arguably of the whole series. However, fans have noticed that Homelander's latest victim's final words were actually pulled from The Boys comic.

Warning, the following contains major spoilers for The Boys season 5 episode 7, so turn back now if you haven't caught up yet.

What makes Frenchie's death even more upsetting is that earlier in the episode, Frenchie tells Kimiko that he does want to have children and live a normal life with her after all, and has even found a dog online for them both to adopt. This comes after the pair almost split earlier in the season after Kimiko shared her wishes for a regular life, but Frenchie admitted that he can only ever see himself living a life on the run.

Frenchie isn't the first person to sacrifice himself by throwing himself in front of Homlander in order to save his friends. In The Boys season 5 episode 1, A-Train saved Hughie from Homelander's laser beams and then ran away from the Supe leader so that the Boys could flee the prison camp. However, Frenchie is the first member of the Boys to die. Heading into the series finale next week, it looks like no one is safe.

There's only one episode left in The Boys as the season finale releases next week in theaters and on streaming. Check out our The Boys season 5 release schedule to make sure you don't miss it.
