The Blood of Dawnwalker system requirements revealed

It's a big day for The Blood of Dawnwalker, the upcoming vampiric RPG headed by The Witcher 3 game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and lead quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz. The release date was announced as part of today's "Road to Launch" showcase, we got a (slightly) closer look at what the game has to offer, and we've also got a detailed breakdown of the system requirements, so you can decide whether or not you're actually ready to play it.

Even at the minimum spec you'll need 16GB RAM, which despite my gut-level feeling that 8GB should still be the 'real' floor for these things is absolutely the baseline these days. The Steam Hardware and Software Survey indicates that just over 8% of respondents are still rocking 8GB RAM, compared to 41% at 16GB and 37% at 32GB. It's a terrible time to buy RAM, but the squeeze is on—if you have to make the move, here's our guide to the best deals we can find these days.

The system requirements also demand an SSD across the board: I do feel like you could possibly, maybe get away with a standard HDD instead of an SSD if you really had to, but it probably wouldn't be very pleasant. We've got a guide for those, too.

Beyond that, it looks like a fairly conventional mix of mid-tier and super-kablammo (yes, that is a technical term, I will not be taking questions) systems for accordingly smooth-and-pretty performance. Obviously the Ultra 4K setting is going to take some beefy hardware to run well (although still only 16GB RAM) but the recommended setting at 1080p should be achievable without too much sweat—although do note that 12GB VRAM requirement, as some 5060 Ti cards roll with 8GB.

There's also an interesting note crammed down in the fine print: All of the listed specs were measured without using upscalers or frame generation, a rather welcome change from the norm these days. Developer Rebel Wolves said "a variety of upscalers such as DLSS or FSR will be supported and can be used to improve performance."

And now, numbers and stuff:
