‘Succession’ Creator Jesse Armstrong to Keynote Banff World Media Festival
Succession creator Jesse Armstrong will deliver a keynote address at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.
The multiple Emmy winner has also made his directorial debut with the Steve Carell-starring HBO movie Mountainhead, a drama about billionaire friends during a rolling international financial crisis and entered to compete in this year’s Banff Rockie Awards competition.
“Jesse Armstrong doesn’t just capture the cultural conversation, he drives it. Having him join us at Banff alongside an incredible lineup of creators, executives, and industry disruptors says everything about where the global media business is right now: bold, unpredictable, and evolving fast,” Jenn Kuzmyk, executive director of the Banff festival, said in a statement.

The festival will also feature a brand storytelling panel and programming on June 17 centered around fan-driven content to grow audiences amid a fast-growing creator economy increasingly powering Hollywood as digital disrupters fuel studio talent pipelines, drive marketing strategies and redefine who becomes a star.
Banff earlier announced Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series, will also be a keynote speaker at the festival, while Spain will be the Country of Honor for 2026.
