On Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson got triggered by the Met Gala in New York on Monday and developed a conspiracy theory about one of the 50 states.

Carlson (Jeremy Culhane) grumbled about the annual fashion and fundraising event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che.

“Yes, come on, everybody, let’s all prance around in our $100,000 clown outfits and watch the American empire crumble,” he said. “What are we doing? What’s going on?”

“So, you didn’t like this year’s Met Gala?” Jost asked.

“No, I loved it,” Carlson replied sarcastically, “because when I go to a museum, I don’t want to talk about history. No, I want to look at the Rock in a skirt. Do you smell what the Rock is cooking? Because I do: it’s gender confusion. That’s the rule. That’s the goal now.”

When Jost asked Carlson if there were any outfits he preferred, like Heidi Klum’s veiled statue, Carlson took the bait.

“The left has finally got what they’ve always wanted: they put the Statue of Liberty in burqa,” he said, quite amused with himself.

“What’s next: does the Chrysler Building become the anti-Chrysler Building?” he went on. “What are we doing? What’s going ? Is this the New York we want to live in, Colin?”

Jost then pointed out that Carlson lives in Maine, at which point the conservative commentator decided to create a conspiracy about his home state.
