Several Russian units cancel leave until May 9 due to expectations of intensified fighting, says Voloshyn

Russian units of the 19th Motorized Rifle Division have canceled leave until May 9 due to concerns about ongoing Ukrainian Armed Forces operations; this may also indicate that Russian troops themselves are preparing for an intensification of hostilities.

This was reported by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, in a comment to Ukrinform.

“According to our intelligence, leave has been canceled until May 9 in several units of the Russian 19th Motorized Rifle Division because the enemy believes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces will carry out some kind of assault operations during this period, so they fear that we will break through the line of contact somewhere,” the spokesperson noted.

Also, he suggests that such decisions may indicate that Russian troops themselves are preparing for intensified combat operations in the near future.

As reported by Ukrinform, over the past 24 hours, on April 26, 241 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front lines. The enemy was most active in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 55 Russian assault operations.
