A man opened fire on Saturday in the Holosiivskyi district of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, leaving “several people dead and wounded”, and then barricaded himself inside a supermarket, according to Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.

A man ​opened fire and killed two people and injured ​five ‌in a ⁠Kyiv district on ‌Saturday and police were now ⁠trying to apprehend him in a ​supermarket, Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said.

"A special operation is proceeding ‌to detain the man ​who started the shooting and is currently inside a ​supermarket," Klitschko said ​on Telegram.

"According ​to medical personnel, two ​people have died so far in Holosiivskyi district."

Klitschko said shooting ⁠was continuing inside the supermarket.
