Russia announces “ceasefire” for May 8-10
Russia’s Ministry of Defense issued a statement confirming its intention to observe the ceasefire from midnight on May 8 until May 10.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the BBC citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry of the aggressor state claimed that, following a decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian forces would “completely cease combat operations” on the front line, as well as missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian territory.

At the same time, the statements were accompanied by renewed threats: the Kremlin warned it could launch a massive strike on Kyiv if Ukraine allegedly “disrupts the parade in Moscow.”

Russia also once again urged foreign diplomats and civilians to evacuate from the Ukrainian capital.

As reported earlier, on April 29, Putin said during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump that Russia was ready to declare a ceasefire for May 9.

President Zelensky later stated that Ukraine had received no official signals from Russia regarding a cessation of hostilities, despite statements circulating on social media. Nevertheless, Kyiv announced its own silence regime beginning May 6 and called on Moscow to move from rhetoric to real steps.

Yesterday, May 6, the Ukrainian President said that by 10:00 Russian forces had committed 1,820 ceasefire violations, including shelling, assault attempts, airstrikes, and drone attacks. He concluded that Russia had violated the ceasefire declared by Ukraine.
