Republic Pictures Acquires Jon Kean Documentary ‘The Hollywood Rabbi’
EXCLUSIVE: Republic Pictures has picked up Jon Kean’s documentary The Hollywood Rabbi about the life of Rabbi Marvin Hier.
The documentary traces Hier’s path from an orthodox Jewish enclave to international prominence as the founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance. The film captures the life he spent in conversation with Presidents, Popes, Kings, and several Hollywood icons, all while advocating fiercely for Holocaust remembrance, human rights, and placing tolerance at the core of our social values.
Among those making appearances in the documentary who have a connection to Hier are Arnold Schwarzenegger, President Bill Clinton, Billy Crystal, Governor Gavin Newsom, Ted Sarandos, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Montana Tucker and more.
The pic is produced by Brad Krevoy, Susie Krevoy and Kean.
“Republic Pictures is proud to support films that spark conversation and illuminate the remarkable lives shaping our cultural landscape,” said Sejin Croninger, EVP of Worldwide Acquisitions, Paramount Pictures. “The Hollywood Rabbi is a dynamic portrait of a singular figure whose influence spans continents and decades, and we’re honored to bring this story to audiences.”
