Reporter responds to Scott Jennings’ live on-air F-bomb after pro-Trump pundit crashed out on CNN

A progressive commentator who was the target of a televised outburst by Scott Jennings on Thursday defended the line of questioning that preceded the exchange, arguing that the conservative pundit used profanity to mask a lack of policy answers.

Adam Mockler, a 23-year-old YouTuber and reporter for the MeidasTouch network, addressed the incident following a segment in which Jennings told him to “get your f***ing hand out of my face.”

The exchange occurred as the two debated the effectiveness of the Trump administration’s ongoing conflict with Iran.

“I know Scott Jennings’ tantrum got all the attention yesterday, but I want to talk a little bit about what I said that got him so mad,” Mockler wrote on X. “The bottom line is: Trump’s war with Iran has failed. This has made it mentally strenuous for MAGA operators to defend it on TV.”

Mockler argued that Jennings has spent eight weeks citing the destruction of Iran’s 50-year-old Navy and Air Force as evidence of American victory, a claim Mockler characterized as “dishonest.”

“The point of war is not to kill your enemies and blow up their navy,” Mockler stated. “That’s an infantile view of war that MAGA is pushing to trick Americans. The point of war is to use force to extract political concessions from your enemy that benefit you on the world stage.”

According to Mockler, the administration has failed to translate military actions into a “single political concession” from Tehran. He noted that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, enriched uranium remains in Iran and the Iranian government refuses to negotiate despite the administration missing its own four-to-six-week deadline for results.

“So I asked the simple question: ‘Can you name a single political concession we have gotten from Iran?’” Mockler said. “He couldn’t answer. Never forget the weakness he showed when he had no answer for Trump’s mistakes.”

The incident has sparked a wave of calls for CNN to terminate its contract with Jennings.

Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta criticized the network’s handling of the outburst on his Substack.

“At any other network, in any other era of television news, uttering an impromptu F-bomb would be a fireable offense,” he wrote.

Acosta added that he remembered Jennings as a “hothead” from their time working together.

“Lighten up, Scott!” Acosta added of the exchange. “Mockler is almost a kid. And a nice one at that. Either way, Jennings should be fired.”

Political commentator Keith Boykin also questioned Jennings’ status as a “brand ambassador” for the network.

“I’ve been on the air with Scott many times over the years,” Boykin wrote on Threads. “He is a paid CNN contributor. I’m not. Telling a fellow panelist to ‘get your f***ing hand out of my face’ is unacceptable. … When I was under contract with CNN, I was told that contributors serve as ‘brand ambassadors.’ Is this the brand?”

In a follow-up YouTube video, Mockler accused Jennings of provoking conflict but being unable to handle direct criticism.

“If you can’t take the heat, then get the hell out of the kitchen," Mockler said.

The controversy comes at a time of significant transition for CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, which is currently part of a nearly complete buyout by Paramount. It also follows a series of efforts by the Trump administration and its allies to pressure networks into firing media figures, including late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

Jennings has established himself as a prominent pro-Trump voice on air, but some former colleagues suggest his private views differ.

“You know who’s a perfect metaphor for the GOP? Scott Jennings,” Miles Taylor, the former Homeland Security Department chief of staff, wrote on X in March. “A pundit who mocks Trump with us during commercial breaks — but fawns over Trump when the camera is rolling. Brave enough to speak out… in the green room.”
