Rebooted AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU for the 10th anniversary of the AM4 socket spotted online for $310, keeping DDR4 and your hopes of a PC upgrade alive

In a move seemingly designed to make your erstwhile correspondent feel old, it seems AMD is rolling out a special edition of the trusty Ryzen 7 5800X3D gaming CPU to celebrate 10 years of the AM4 socket. Yup, 10 years.

Spotted by X user momomo_us (via Tom's Hardware), the chip has been listed at Indian retailer 99Deals for the equivalent of around $310. The OG 5800X3D is in pretty limited supply these days. Listings on Newegg, for example, are limited to a supplier in Hong Kong for over $400. It's a similar situation for the 5700X3D.

Meanwhile, the closest newer equivalent, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D goes for over $380 and of course slides into the AM5 socket. So, a reboot of the 5800X3D at that price is pretty appealing, especially if it means you don't have to buy any DDR5 memory at whatever bananas price is being charged at any given moment.

Of course, with news that AMD is also adding a Ryzen 7 7700X3D to its line up, there's a healthy selection of 3D V-cache processors from AMD on multiple sockets.

The rebooted 5800X3D seems to come in a natty box with "10th Anniversary Edition: April 16th 2026, 10 Years of Innovation" branding, the 10 years bit referring to the AM4 socket, rather than the chip itself. The 5800X3D is pretty old, but not that old. It was released around this time in 2022.

The 5800X3D is an eight-core model with 96 Megabytes of game-accelerating 3D V-cache and remains a very decent gaming CPU here in 2026. That fact, combined with the AM4 socket's DDR4 as opposed to DDR5 memory support, is where the main appeal is here.

As far as we know, AMD has made no official announcement regarding availability of the chip. But what with this listing and a leak earlier last month that ties in with the date on the box, it looks pretty likely that the chip is for real and could soon be widely available. If you have an AM4 system or even some old DDR4 knocking about, therefore, this chip could be a pretty appealing proposition.
