PiS Candidate Urges Young Poles to Start Families Now, Warns Time Is Running Out

Przemysław Czarnek, vice-chairman of Law and Justice and the party's prime ministerial candidate, has called on young Poles to establish families immediately, cautioning that waiting until after completing education and purchasing a home leaves little time for having children.

During a public meeting in Piotrków Trybunalski in the Łódź region on Sunday, Czarnek addressed concerns raised by young citizens regarding housing accessibility. He framed the issue within Poland's broader demographic crisis, noting that low birth rates now constitute a national emergency and cities are experiencing depopulation. He cited Konin as an example, where the population has declined by 20,000 residents from 80,000 since 2000.

The Time Factor in Family Planning

When responding to a young attendee's inquiry about solutions to housing shortages, Czarnek argued that while housing policy undoubtedly influences family formation and fertility rates, residential matters alone are insufficient.

"By the time you complete your studies and purchase a home, you are already 40 years old or older, and the opportunity has passed. Establish families now. Without families, you will not survive, even if you owned six apartments. Had our grandparents and parents postponed decisions about creating families and having children, there would be scarcely anyone in this room," Czarnek stated.

Czarnek outlined Law and Justice's strategy to address the housing crisis. The plan focuses on reforming mortgage lending practices to introduce fixed-rate mortgages, enabling families to understand their financial obligations and budget accordingly. He also emphasized the importance of developing cooperative housing initiatives and exploring alternative pathways to securing housing beyond traditional property ownership.

Political Support and Endorsements

The gathering featured Sławomir Cenckiewicz, former head of Poland's National Security Bureau, as a special guest. Cenckiewicz announced his attendance to support Czarnek's bid to secure power for Polish patriots. He invoked the legacy of Major Henryk Dobrzański "Hubal," whose April 30 death anniversary was approaching, quoting his famous declaration: "I will not surrender my weapons, I will not remove my uniform."

"Przemysław Czarnek is the heir to those words," Cenckiewicz stated. He highlighted Czarnek's substantial life achievements both within and outside politics, noting that despite his successful career, Czarnek has committed to recovering power from what he characterized as an anti-Polish government. Cenckiewicz revealed that when he informed President Karol Nawrocki of his intention to support Czarnek, the president responded affirmatively, saying Czarnek deserved backing.
