President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had instructed Ukraine’s intelligence services to propose possible response options following a two-day Russian attack in which Russia used 1,567 drones and 56 missiles of various types.

According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian President shared the information on Telegram after a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff.

“In total, during the waves of massive attacks on May 13 and 14, the Russians used 1,567 drones and 56 missiles of various types. Our drone interception rate reached 94%. The missile interception rate was 73%. The key challenge is ballistic missiles and the protection of thousands of rear infrastructure facilities and our cities,” Zelensky said, noting that the Russian attack was the first item discussed during the meeting.

He described the strikes as a deliberate terrorist tactic by Russia, which accumulated drones and missiles over time and intentionally coordinated the timing of the attack to maximize its scale and strain Ukraine’s air defense.

Zelensky also reported on impacts across multiple regions, from the Rivne and Ivano-Frankivsk regions to the city of Kyiv and the Kharkiv region.

In Kyiv, search and rescue operations are still ongoing at the site where a residential building section was destroyed, with the structure reportedly damaged from the 1st to the 9th floor.

“The fate of nearly 20 people who may have been inside the building remains unknown. As of now, seven people are confirmed dead and 39 injured in Kyiv alone,” he said.

The President added that he would also hold detailed discussions with Ukrainian diplomats regarding the urgent need to secure additional air defense systems. He stressed that anti-ballistic systems and missiles for them are the top priority.

“Everyone must focus on anti-ballistic systems and missiles for them. This is priority number one, and the assessment of Ukrainian diplomacy’s work in May and June will depend, among other things, on sufficient supplies for the forces protecting our skies,” Zelensky noted.

As reported earlier, Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted 41 missiles and 652 drones launched by Russian forces from the evening, May 13. The main target of the attack was Kyiv.
