Pedro Pascal says he originally didn't realize Jon Favreau wanted him to play The Mandalorian in the Star Wars show: "Am I a droid?"
Pedro Pascal made his Star Wars debut as The Mandalorian back in 2019, but he originally had no idea the role was meant for him.
Speaking during a Q&A at the UK Fan Event for The Mandalorian and Grogu, attended by GamesRadar+, Pascal explained how his casting came about thanks to a call from creator Jon Favreau.

I see Grogu, like I said. And I asked, I said, 'Okay, so, what am I? Like, who – am I a droid? What voice do you want?' Then they were like, blinking back at me like they were confused. And then they were like, 'You're the Mandalorian.'"
