Pedometer++ 8 brings friendly design refresh and Expedition Mode to Apple Watch
Pedometer++ has logged a lot of miles since first unlocking step tracking on the iPhone 5s in 2013. Nearly 13 years of updates later, version 8.0 arrives with a redesigned Apple Watch experience that includes an all-new Expedition Mode. Pedometer++ also touts a “highly-usable workout picker” for Apple Watch users frustrated by watchOS 26’s Workout app.
Expedition Mode powers longer Apple Watch workout tracking by saving battery

Apple redesigned the Workout app in watchOS 26, but not everyone loves the current workout picker.
While Apple fixed the biggest usability issue, Pedometer++ 8 gives long-time Apple Watch users a more familiar experience.
Scrolling down from the step counter reveals an updated workout picker for starting a new walk, run, or hike. We have redesigned this picker for maximum ease of use. We want our users to be able to quickly and easily select a workout type, with confidence that they can scroll through and tap one of our large and clear touch targets.
Additionally, version 8.0 brings a new Expedition Mode to workout tracking for Pedometer++ Premium subscribers. This mode tracks the same workout types while optimizing for battery life for longer activity tracking.
This new mode saves battery life on extended hikes, walks, and runs by disabling constant heart rate tracking, instead opting to only work with the basic heart-rate tracking that the Apple Watch provides. […] This mode allows you to tackle bigger all-day outings with a map on your wrist that can last all day.
Premium subscribers can expect to save up to 40% battery life when tracking workouts in Expedition Mode.
Pedometer++ includes a playful design update across the app
Pedometer++ 8’s new design isn’t limited to the “highly-usable workout picker” mentioned above. It actually starts with the Pedometer++ home screen on Apple Watch, which is bolder and more colorful than ever.
Pedometer++ 8.0 is focused around a fully rebuilt and redesigned Apple Watch app. The bold new look is focused on your key metrics for the day: steps climbed, miles traveled, and flights of stairs climbed. The design uses our trademark colors to reinforce how close you are to your daily step goal, which you see filling in the half-circle as you make progress.
The refreshed design extends to the active workout view as well:
During a workout, Pedometer++ on the Apple Watch displays a custom map with workout metrics, including heart rate and HR zones, speed, and elevation changes. All of these screens have been designed to be perfectly readable when on the move. We have worked to make sure that all the information you need is available, without cluttering the interface.

Whether you’re frustrated by Apple’s Workout app or just want a fun and playful way to track your daily step count, Pedometer++ is always worth having installed on your Apple Watch and iPhone.
