Now Bojangles wants EV drivers to fast charge while they eat
Southern fast-food chain Bojangles is getting into EV charging, debuting its first DC fast-charging station in Savannah, Georgia.
The company just opened an EV charging hub at its restaurant at 4401 Ogeechee Road in Savannah. The project was developed with EV charger company XLR8 America and Energy and Environmental Design Services, which handled installation and maintenance.
Bojangles is wisely jumping on the charge-and-dine bandwagon – the Savannah site is the first step in what Bojangles says will be a national rollout across key US markets. A spokesperson said a second charging site at a Bojangles restaurant will open in Charlotte later this year, but would not indicate how many sites are planned or the overall timescale. The company said future charging stations will include a mix of Level 2 and DC fast chargers.
As more retailers, restaurants, and convenience chains add EV chargers, fast food locations are becoming an increasingly logical fit. Drivers tend to stop for 20 to 40 minutes, especially on road trips, and charging gives restaurants another way to bring in customers and keep them on-site longer.
