Ukrainian Military Reports 127 Combat Engagements Along Front Lines Since Dawn

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine documented 127 military clashes across the front since the beginning of April 22, according to the latest operational update released at 22:00.

Russian forces conducted 44 aerial strikes and deployed 151 guided aerial bombs during the day. Additionally, enemy troops engaged 5,650 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,362 artillery and mortar strikes against civilian settlements and Ukrainian military positions.

Fighting Concentrates on Three Key Sectors

Nearly half of the day's combat operations occurred along three critical directions: the Pokrovsk and Konstantynivsk sectors in Donetsk region, and the Huliaipole sector in Zaporizhzhia region.

Donetsk Region Hotspots

On the Konstantynivsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 enemy assault waves near the towns of Konstantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Ivanopillya, and Illiyivka.

The Pokrovsk sector experienced particularly intense pressure, with 30 recorded enemy attacks in the areas surrounding Sofiyivka, Novopavlivka, Toretsk, Rodynske, Filiya, Shevchenko, Myrnohrad, Hryshine, Kotlyne, Udachne, and toward Kucherovyi Yar.

Zaporizhzhia Region Fighting

Along the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian forces faced 13 enemy attacks in and around Huliaipole, as well as in the settlements of Dobropillya, Hirke, Zaliznychne, Zelene, Starourkayinka, and Tsvítkove. Russian air forces struck civilian areas including Verkhnya Tersa, Kopani, Liubytske, Shyroke, Huliaipole, Starourkayinka, Tymoshivka, Tsvítkove, and Dolynka.

Combat Operations Extend Across Multiple Directions

Fighting also continued along the South Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Aleksandrivsk, Orikhiv, and Dnipro directions.

Context: Rising Russian Offensive Activity

On April 15, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky reported that Russian forces had intensified offensive operations across the entire 1,200-kilometer front line following favorable weather changes. He identified the Aleksandrivsk, Pokrovsk, Konstantynivsk, and Lyman sectors as the most hotly contested areas throughout March.

On April 17, Volodymyr Polevyi, communications chief of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces, stated on Radio Donbas Realities (a Radio Free Europe project) that Russian troops are concentrating resources toward Myrnohrad's southern outskirts in Donetsk region, exploiting residential buildings as natural defensive positions.
