MrBeast's Production Company Faces Lawsuit Over Sexual Harassment and Pregnancy Discrimination Claims

Hollywood Reporter Winston Cho 0 переглядів 3 хв читання

A former executive at Beast Industries, the production arm owned by content creator Jimmy Donaldson, has filed a federal lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and wrongful termination.

The legal action was brought by Lorrayne Mavromatis, who characterizes the company as a "boy's club" plagued by systematic mistreatment of female staff members. According to the complaint filed Wednesday in North Carolina federal court, multiple women experienced unwanted sexual advances and appearance-based commentary from supervisors, with company leadership dismissing concerns about inappropriate conduct.

Details of the Allegations

Mavromatis, who joined Beast Industries in 2022 as head of Instagram before being promoted to head of creative, earned $250,000 annually managing the company's verticals division. Her lawsuit claims violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act, wrongful discharge, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The complaint alleges that former CEO James Warren held one-on-one meetings at his residence and dismissed her concerns when she reported a client's sexual advances. According to court documents, when Mavromatis questioned why Donaldson would not collaborate with her on specific projects, Warren allegedly told her she was a "beautiful woman" whose "appearance had a certain sexual effect on Jimmy."

Mavromatis claims she was subjected to multiple retaliatory demotions and transfers. After reporting harassment to Warren and Donaldson in 2023, she was demoted from head of creative to social media manager of merchandise. While on maternity leave the following year, supervisors allegedly requested she work on various assignments, including international travel to Brazil. She was terminated three weeks after returning from leave.

Company's Response

Beast Industries denied all allegations, describing the lawsuit as a "clout-chasing complaint" containing "deliberate misrepresentations and categorically false statements." Company representatives stated they possess "extensive evidence — including Slack and WhatsApp messages, company documents, and witness testimony" that refutes Mavromatis's claims. They characterized the pregnancy discrimination allegation as "fabricated for the sole purpose of sparking headlines" and pursuing "a multimillion dollar payday."

Additional Context

The lawsuit highlights a company handbook distributed to employees containing problematic language, including statements that "no does not mean no" and that "the amount of hours you work is irrelevant." Mavromatis alleges Beast Industries lacked formal procedures for reporting sexual harassment and discrimination incidents in 2023 when she filed her complaint.

When questioned about the lawsuit at the Time100 Summit in New York, Donaldson acknowledged his limitations in managing company culture as Beast Industries expanded to 750 employees. He stated he "brought in more experienced people" and noted the new executive leadership "have been amazing to have."

According to sources with knowledge of the matter, Beast Industries distributed a formal company handbook in March 2025 that detailed Family and Medical Leave Act protections and other employment rights as the organization established structured policies and procedures.
