The creator and star of the acclaimed HBO series has been brainstorming ideas for a potential film project and maintains regular contact with the original cast.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM's "Radio Andy," Lena Dunham disclosed that she has been developing conceptual ideas for a "Girls" movie and has established an active group chat with the original cast members to discuss the possibility of reuniting for the project when the timing feels appropriate.

"I would love to do it, and I have to say, I got a little plot line in my brain. I do," Dunham explained during the interview. "It's impossible not to think about where they are now."

The creator revealed that she maintains ongoing text conversations with her castmates, including Andrew Rannells, through a group chat they've humorously titled "Survivors of the Crackcident." According to Dunham, cast member Jemima Kirke frequently shares creative observations about where her character might be in the present day, offering comedic takes on contemporary developments.

Dunham offered an example of these exchanges, noting that Kirke had joked about her character's current political leanings and stance on vaccination, suggesting that the character's worldview has evolved in unexpected directions.

The HBO drama, which concluded its six-season run in 2017, garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase throughout its tenure on the network.
