The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biographical drama, simply titled “Michael,” made a resounding debut at the South Korean box office, comfortably claiming the top position during the weekend spanning May 15-17.

Data released by KOBIS, the official tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, reveals that the Lionsgate and Universal Pictures international release achieved a dominant 51.03% share of the weekend market. Over this three-day period, the film garnered an impressive $3.6 million from 470,375 admissions.

Since its mid-week launch on May 13, “Michael” has rapidly accumulated a cumulative gross of $4.8 million, drawing a total of 647,916 cinemagoers across the nation.
