Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions Makes Cuts
We’ve confirmed that Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw productions has pinkslipped three development staffers.
The current set-up is reported to be around four staffers in development with the department still receiving material. It’s unclear at this point who was let go.
The current cuts come roughly a year after Monkeypaw also made cuts in their development department which then included three Production VPs as well as around five junior staffers. We’re told last year’s cuts were in the TV division, while this year’s was in the features department.
Monkeypaw’s current deal is at Universal, which was inked in 2019. The Oscar-winning Get Out filmmaker tried to mount a new movie at Universal post his 2022 summer feature Nope which grossed just over $171M WW, however, it experienced significant delays with no fourth directorial in the immediate pipeline.
The Hollywood Reporter first had the news about Monkeypaw’s layoffs.

A company like this needs 3 people.
Peele, a producer and an assistant.
Cuts chop jobs to put more money in JP’s pocket. He hasn’t made a film in five years.
Now they need to get rid of Jordan Peele…
I feel bad for the staff, but they were also partly the issue – they didn’t develop good projects.
It was more than 3 that just got laid off. Their dev team was just gutted. The only people left are the buddies at the top who have run the company into the ground. And some support staff so they continue not to lift a finger.
