'It's a weird experience reliving Race Across the World'

A brother and sister who are starring in the latest series of the BBC's Race Across the World programme have opened up about the surreal experience of watching the show ahead of its final episode being aired.

Harrison, 24, and Katie Devine, 21, from Manchester, will be seen later in the ultimate leg of the show in which pairs of travellers tackle an intrepid adventure with no phone and limited cash.

This series captured the teams as they raced more than 12,000km (7,450 miles) across Europe and Asia.

"It's weird - it feels like you're watching someone else," explained Harrison, who works as a finance assistant.

"You recognise it's you but it was a long time ago and so much happens in a day that you don't remember everything that you see on the screen.

"You go 'oh, did I say that'?

"Sometimes you're mortified, sometimes you're laughing at yourself, it's just a really weird experience and something that isn't normal for us."

The teams are racing from Palermo on the island of Sicily all the way to the remote village of Hatgal on the shores of lake Hövsgöl in northern Mongolia in a bid to claim the £20,000 prize.

For Katie, who works as an account manager, watching the series has brought back many memories.

"When I watch it, I am always laughing because I don't remember it being like that," she said.

"I feel like it's just so much funnier to watch.

"At the time, you have loads of stress at the back of the head but when you're watching it back you can just truly enjoy the experience that we had."

Katie previously shared how spending every day with her brother was actually the easiest part on the process.

"We just know each other so well and we're just like an extension of each other," she explained.

And she thinks their bickering can actually be a help.

"The meaner we are to each other, the better we get along!

"Other siblings may use that as a fight but the meaner we are, the stronger our relationship is."
