Ireland’s lower house ratifies Convention Establishing International Claims Commission for Ukraine
The lower house of Ireland’s parliament, the Dáil Éireann, has ratified the Convention Establishing an International Claims Commission for Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was announced by Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, on social media platform X.

“I am glad to confirm Ireland’s support for the Convention Establishing an International Claims Commission for Ukraine,” he wrote.

The Irish minister welcomed the ratification of the Convention by the country’s parliament.

“Russia must be held accountable for the severe damage it has caused in Ukraine,” Byrne said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 16, 2025, in The Hague, during an international conference organized by the Council of Europe and the Netherlands, the Convention Establishing an International Claims Commission for Ukraine was opened for signature. It is part of a broader mechanism to compensate for damages caused by Russia’s aggression.
